Woodworking / Furniture Building

I’m making progress on more storage. When this is done all if my stuff in the big roll around tool chests will have a permanent home.

Made a couple custom baby gates that still need painting, but even with the potential snow tomorrow hopefully I can knock that out

Who else uses Sketchup? I’ve been modeling my shop over the years and it’s been nice to use to figure out all my builtins. Now that I’m upgrading to a Sawstop and finally adding automated dust collection ports, it’s been so useful for sho layout.

That's awesome! Awesome shop too!

I just reorganized the garage and built this tool holder out of old mdf shelves.

Tomorrow I need to re place all the tools and such, move crap to the shed, and fully out everything away.

I'm picking up an older armoire I plan on sanding, staining, and setting up the inside to hold my wineador, a wine rack, glass holders, etc

At least it's a free experiment

I'm so jealous of that purchase! I would love to get one of those someday. Having that little extra confidence that I wouldn't lose a finger would be so nice. I actually have a customer that saved his finger because he was using one. He has the cartridge hung on the wall of his office.
The reason I finally caved was a scare I had right after Christmas. A 1/4” piece of ply caught the infinitesimal gap between the fence and the top and kicked back. Fortunately my fingers were not near the blade but if they were I would have had a really bad accident. The next day, I decided what I wanted and ordered with my wife’s blessing.

I really should have leveraged my buddies experience a couple years ago. He was making a doll house for his daughters for Christmas and got his finger caught in table saw. Luckily it didn't go all the way through and stitches took care of it but it was a super close call.

@KEV my old tablesaw was a workhorse for only being a 1.5 HP contractor saw. It was tuned perfectly and my baby for 16 years. I‘m glad I found a new home for it. I always swore to myself that if I replace it, I would only replace it with a Sawstop. My fingers are worth more than $3500.

worked on a few cutting boards for friends: some took a little bit of work to make the curves look good. The red Padauk is a beautiful red accent wood.

Looks good.

It’s pinewood derby time. I just finished the trophy’s and my son and I finished the paint job on his car.

I used sketchup to build my shed, my deck, and my (I believe it's called) captain's bed with 6 drawers.

I don't know why my brain can figure out things but then I don't take a small thing into account and make mistakes. I made a pair of garbage corrals but I didn't measure the internal space and while the bins fit they don't pull out from the thing which out lifting.. not sure if I want to re do them or not

You know I was thinking to do a swinging gate and latch, but it's more the vertical poles that get in the way. I really just need to re do the left to right width, but we'll see how much of a pain it is in the next couple weeks
