Spring 2010 Ladies Antigua

Antigua is a brand I have known for a long time. I have always found their clothes to be a bit simple, but very well made and they get the job done. Over the past few seasons, however, I have noticed a change in the Antigua designs and I am really liking it. The spring line for 2010 has some wonderful vibrant tones and great color combinations in the striped polos. There are three lines for Spring 2010: Chic, Elegance and Luxe.

The first polo is from the Chic line:
The Chic collection features the “Blossom” color palette. Shades of rich pink, natural and white give this group a fresh yet refined look. All fabrics are treated with Antigua’s Desert Dry™ moisture wicking properties and are lightweight and soft. Styles like Majestic and Demure use tonal and contrast birdseye pique which contribute to the collections fresh approach to classic fabrications. For the first time we have introduced a lightweight, nylon blend sweater- which can be paired with any polo in the collection and offers just the right amount of warmth while maintaining ease of movement.

This polo was my favorite of the three, I am absolutely in love with the colors. With three shades of pink mixed with a pop of white this top is very pleasing to the eyes. It’s not a bubblegum pink that makes you squint when you look at it, it has a very warn and rich tone to it that works great for so many outfits. This is the kind of polo that would be perfect with a white skort on the course and then later with a pair of jeans. The Desert Dry material of this polo is just phenomenal. This is definitely the thickest of the three polos but is nowhere near as thick as a true cotton shirt, it’s a cool, moisture wicking fabric that feels great on the skin. My favorite part of this top is the neck, I love the no button V neck for me that was the icing on the cake. If you like your golf shirts a little more fitted this style I would definitely recommend ordering one size smaller because this is will not give you a close fit.

The second polo is from the Luxe Collection:
The Luxe collection uses the decadent “Midnight” color palette, featuring deep blues, earthy grays and natural tones which gives a quality of sophistication to the overall appearance of this group.

Styles such as Flourish and Impeccable use Desert Dry™ Xtra-Lite fabrics which are both moisture wicking and lightweight, without being too sheer. The three-dimensional construction is what makes the fabric extremely light without being sheer or see-through.  In addition, Desert Dry™ Xtra-Lite wicks away moisture even faster that Antigua’s proprietary Desert Dry™ , a performance fabric the company created several years ago when it introduced its performance category for golf.

This top has a similar style to the first with it’s multicolor striped patter. However, unlike the large horizontal stripes in the previous polo this is an all blue top with very fine stripes of different shades including that same pop of white. For comfort and feel this was number one in my book. The fabric almost feels like you are wearing silk, it is so soft on your skin and will keep you cool even on the hottest day. I found the fabric so comfortable I could imagine sleeping in it. The button down collar is actually really nice because it has more buttons than your normal polo which I really liked, I am honestly not sure why but it caught my eye. This top is a bit more true to size than the first one and a modest length to give you plenty of room for a full swing with no belly exposure.

The third polo also features the Desert Dry Xtra Lite material except this one is bamboo. If you are looking for a polo that feels like cotton but has the moisture wicking effect of the first two tops then this is the shirt for you. Amazingly lightweight material that really breathes and again just feel great on your body. This has the more traditional three button collar and fits very similar to the second polo so it is much more true to size than the first one.

For some additional information here are the details of the Elegance Collection:
The Elegance collection features the “Concord” color palette, which uses shades of plum, light gray and black. This group has a slightly preppy feel to it, with argyle and houndstooth as running themes. Styles such as Prim and Proper use argyle jacquard patterns, and style Retro features all over houndstooth embossing.

No matter which style you chose you can really never go wrong with Antigua. In my experience these are the type of golf clothes that are built to last. Even with the styles starting to progress with the times the overall look and feel of Antigua is simply classic and just has this overall sense of sophistication. I was very pleased with the Spring 2010 collections and will definitely be including them in my wardrobe. One thing to note, even with the more true to size tops they are by no means fitted and do have a bit of a flare on the bottom so if you are looking for something with a more ‘euro’ cut definitely get size smaller.
